Suspected armed robber dies in Delta hospital after exchange of gunfire with police

A suspected armed robber simply identified as Christopher (surname unknown) has been reported dead after he sustained injuries from the exchange of gunfire between his gang members and a police patrol team from “B” Division in Warri, Delta State.

The suspect died at the General Hospital, Warri, where he was receiving medical treatment, DAILY POST can report.

The police also recovered a mini bus, one expended cartridge, two POS machines, two female bags containing two Zenith bank ATM cards, one driver’s license bearing Ogagbe Godspower, one power bank and a bible from the suspect..

The deceased suspect before his death confessed to being a member of the armed robbery gang that robbed a POS lady at Osubi-Orerokpe earlier in the day.

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement made available to DAILY POST.


He said the police during a routine patrol along Okere market junction Warri, intercepted a four-man armed robbery gang operating with a minibus with reg. no. Delta DSZ 912 XA.

According to the Police Image maker, “On sighting the Police team, the hoodlums shot at the Police and zoomed off.

“The patrol team chased the hoodlums to Makaiva market while exchanging gunfire with them but seized fire when they got to the market due to the crowd.

“The hoodlums alighted from the vehicle and ran into the crowd but one of the suspects was arrested with gunshot injuries he sustained during the gun duel.”

While noting that the suspect died at the General hospital in Warri, DSP Edafe said, “Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”
