Six people have been killed in multiple fatal crashes that occurred at Rama village along Darazo – Bauchi route in Bauchi State.

Six other people sustained varying degrees of injuries including fractures and burns.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State Sector Command, confirmed the crash to journalists on Sunday.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, said the crash occurred on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at about 8.14pm.

According to him, it took men of the FRSC just seven minutes to get to the scene of the crash for a rescue operation after they got the report of the incident.

“The crash was caused by wrong overtaking by one of the drivers.

“It involved two commercial vehicles – an ash Toyota bus with registration number DRZ 356ZD and a blue Mercedes Benz trailer with no number plate as of the time of the crash.

“When we got the call informing us of the crash, our rescue team rushed to the scene for rescue operation. They immediately evacuated the victims to the Darazo General Hospital for treatment and confirmation.

“It was at the hospital that a medical doctor confirmed six of them dead. Six other people sustained different degrees of injuries, while only one person escaped unhurt,” Abdullahi stated.

The FRSC Boss said the corpses were deposited at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Darazo after which they would be released to the families of the deceased for burial.

He added that all the obstructions on the road were cleared to allow for a free flow of traffic.

Abdullahi cautioned drivers against wrong driving and recklessness on the road especially in this season where there is a high volume of vehicular movement.
