The mother of one Mr Endurance, alleged to be a former councilor in Port Harcourt Local Government has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for urgent medical treatment for gunshot wounds after she was shot by suspected cultists at Egede street, Mile 2, Diobu area of Rivers State capital on Monday.

It was learnt that trouble started when the ex-councilor refused to pay the armed cultists an agreed amount for “election security money” when he allegedly hired them during the governorship and house of assembly election held in the state on Saturday.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspected cultists led by one Zubi had stormed the house of the ex-councilor at Egede street, called him outside and demanded for the payment of “election security money.”

Endurance had insisted that he has no money to pay the cultists, and this was said to have led to altercation and throwing bottles into his compound.

The source further disclosed that when Endurance made attempt to run inside the house, the angry hoodlums opened fire on him, but it was his mother that was hit by bullets.

Another eyewitness said the hoodlums escaped after the shooting incident.
