Rate of car theft in Jigawa surges, Police promises to act

Jigawa State residents have raised concerned over the increasing incidents of car theft by criminal gangs in the state.

Some of the residents raised their concerns while speaking to DAILY POST in Dutse, the state capital.

One victim of car theft said the speed and technique used by the criminals was amazing.

He appealed to security operatives to step up efforts at arresting the criminals to ensure the act is reduced in the state.

State Police Command in a statement issued to DAILY POST signed by the Spokesman ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam assured of actions to check the thefts.


According to the statement, the state police command is working to protect the lives and properties of citizens as one of its cardinal duties.

He also advised vehicle owners to act with keen interest, device strategies of securing their vehicles.

“Try and install tracker devices, parking at secured environment, using improvised locally made padlocks, automatic sensor key”

Shiisu noted that the command is doing everything possible to clamp down on perpetrators and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.
