PSG vs Real Madrid: Nicolas Anelka predicts winner of Champions League clash

Former Chelsea striker, Nicolas Anelka, has predicted Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League round of 16 tie against Real Madrid.

PSG will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie on February 15 in France.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will then take on the Los Blancos in the second-leg tie on March 9 in Spain.

But Anelka, a former PSG and Real Madrid attacker, believes the LaLiga giants will have the edge over the Parisians.

“It’s an early final [PSG’s Champion League round of 16 tie against Real Madrid], it could be,” Anelka told MARCA.

“Two great teams, two great clubs. I give Madrid a small advantage because they have more experience.

“When moments like these come, they are always a very strong team. But PSG have extraordinary players so they can also get a good result.

“There are so many quality players that I don’t know who will be the best. [Karim] Benzema, Vini [Junior], [Lionel] Messi and Mbappe, who may play at [Real] Madrid.

“It is going to be a very even game. There are also two great coaches, so it is also going to be a very tactical game. We are going to see how Madrid approaches the game: if they are more defensive or dominant like they are in Spain.”

He added, “Messi was at Barcelona all his life and it is not easy to adapt because everything is new.

“I don’t think he wanted to leave Barcelona. He was forced to leave and it was not easy for him. It is something new for him, but Messi is Messi and in games like that he shows that he is a great player and I think he will have a good game against Madrid.”
