Police parade 61 suspected criminals in Nasarawa

About 61 suspected criminals arrested for various offences have been paraded by the Nasarawa State Police Command.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Bola Longe, while parading the suspects at the Force Headquarters in Lafia, explained that the suspects terrorized residents of the state until their arrest.

The suspects, according to him, were into assassination, robbery, vandalism and other crimes.

He explained that the suspects had concluded plans to strike at some locations in the Karu Local Government Area in the state and eliminate their victims.

Longe said the command arrested them based on credible information concerning their nefarious activities.

He added that the command was able to raise a formidable team of detectives and operational personnel as a proactive step to prevent them from actualising their aim, leading to their arrest.

Some suspected vandals, who had been in the business of buying and selling railway tracks and slippers in the state, were also paraded by the commissioner.

He hailed the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the command led by CSP Anietie Eyoh, for arresting the criminal elements that have been vandalising the railway items, saying that plans are being made to charge the suspects to court.

According to the Commissioner of Police, “While working on credible intelligence, the Anti-kidnapping unit of the command was able to intercept one citroen J5 Bus, with recently vandalised railway tracks at Agyaragu, Obi LGA. On sighting the police, the occupants of the vehicle abandoned it and escaped to an unknown destination. We took the vehicle to the State CIID and the investigation is still ongoing.”
