Police, local hunters dislodge bandits in Adamawa

Men of the Adamawa State Police Command and local hunters in Gangtum district, Ganye Local Government Area of the state have dislodged bandits from their hideout in the state.


The exercise led to the rescue of a 60-year-old Abdullahi Buba and one Halima Ishaku, which lasted several hours.

DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the Command’s spokesman in a statement, explained that the operation was carried out by personnel of the Ganye Division and hunters from Ganye at the Shiga da Iya Hill situated at a remote side of Gangtum village, saying that the exercise yielded positive results.

According to the statement, the victims were kidnapped by the gang on January 19, 2022, and taken to the hideout, while ransom was being negotiated.

The statement further explained that two of the suspected kidnappers were neutralized during the exchange of gunfire with the police and hunters, saying that others escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds.
