The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced its state congress amidst heavy security.
The chairman of the state congress committee, Gbenga Elegbeleye, during the stakeholders’ meeting and press briefing preceding Saturday’s exercise had announced that the congress will be a “consensus-election”.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola, who arrived at the venue of the congress, Osogbo City Stadium, around 12 pm, urged the delegates to compose themselves in a virtuous manner.
He also urged the contestant to go away with any acrimony and abide by the rules of the congress committee.
He said, “There must be no acrimony. All the contestants should abide by the rules of the committee. I welcome us all to this wonderful particular Congress devoid of any crisis and rancour.”
The committee had earlier screened the delegates expected to vote in the election.
