Victor Osimhen’s late goal on Tuesday could not save Napoli from crashing out of the Champions League, losing 1-2 aggregate to AC Milan.
AC Milan won the first leg at the San Siro by a lone goal last Wednesday and drew 1-1 in the return leg today.
Napoli needed to win by more than a goal to have a chance of qualifying, but the visitors broke their heart.
Rafael Leao was the provider as he slipped the ball to Olivier Giroud who simply steered it home from close range few minutes to the end of the first half to make it 0-1.
After the break, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wove through the defence with ease and got into a good position in front of goal. He pulled the trigger in an effort to beat the keeper, but failed as the ball zoomed over the bar.
Napoli equalised three minutes into added time, but it was too late. Giacomo Raspadori showcased his great technique and produced a beautiful lofted cross into the box. Victor Osimhen met the cross and got himself onto the scoresheet with a header into the bottom right corner.
