Nigeria vs Ghana: Former England World Cup U-20 star reacts to call by Super Eagles

Leicester City forward, Ademola Lookman, has reacted to his first call to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Lookman was part of England’s 2017 Under-20 World Cup-winning team alongside the likes of Dominic Solanke, Kyle Walker-Peters and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, among others.

Nigeria announced their squad to face the Black Stars of Ghana in this month’s World Cup qualifying playoff on Friday.

Ademola, who recently switched allegiance from England to Nigeria, would be hoping to start his international career with the first leg of the two-legged tie that will take place on March 25 in Ghana.


The second leg will take place inside the main bowl of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on March 29.

And the others are:

Goalkeeper: Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi

Defenders: William Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi, Zaidu Sanusi and Shehu Abdullahi.

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Akinkunmi Amoo.

Forwards: Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Sadiq Umar, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Dennis.

The players placed on stand-by are: Chidozie Awaziem, Jamilu Collins, Chidera Ejuke, Taiwo Awoniyi, Paul Onuachu, Peter Olayinka and Ogenyi Onazi

Reacting to the call-up, the former England youth International tweeted, “And so it begins… my first call up and can’t wait to represent my country. See you soon Naija @NGSuperEagles.”
