Makinde names Omolewa as Auxillary’s replacement

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday, appointed former secretary of the disbanded Park Management System, Oluwatomiwa Omolewa, as the new PMS chairman.

He also ordered the reopening of the parks, which had been under lock and key following the dissolution of the PMS Disciplinary Committee led by Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxillary.

had reported that Auxillary was declared wanted by the state Police command for allegedly stockpiling arms and ammunition.

Auxillary, whose house was also raided by the police, was further accused of robbery, kidnapping and other criminal acts.

A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on Sunday, also announced Kasali Lawal, fondly called Baba Bola, as the the PMS secretary.

He said the appointment was part of the reorganisation of the PMS embarked upon by the state government, adding that the new management team comprises of members from all the major factions in the transport union.

Apart from the chairman and secretary, other members of the management include the Deputy Chairman, Tajudeen Jimoh; Treasurer, Kamardeen Idowu; Financial Secretary, Tirimisiyu Olowoposi; Organising Secretary, Abass Amolese and Auditor, Hamidu Mustapha Were.

Others are First Vice-Chairman, Abideen Ejiogbe; First Trustee, Ganiyu Mojeed; Second Trustee, Musa Alubankudi; Second Auditor, Akinsola Tokyo and Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Emiola.

Speaking after the announcement, the chairman, Omolewa, said he would work towards ensuring peace across the state.

He said, “I thank Makinde for counting me worthy of this position. I use this opportunity to assure the people of the state and the government that there will be a difference in our attitude to work. I promise that the people will notice a significant difference in our operations as we assume office.”

The governor had, earlier on Sunday, while speaking during a thanksgiving service held at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church, Aremo in Ibadan, vowed to deal decisively with all troublemakers in the state.
