Ligue 1: PSG suffer Messi blow ahead of Montpellier, Man City games

Paris Saint-Germain will be without Lionel Messi for Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with Montpellier.

The 34-year-old might, however, feature against Manchester City in the Champions League next week.

Messi picked up a knee injury against Lyon, which forced him to undergo an MRI scan and sit out training.

He sat out the 2-1 win over Metz in midweek and will undergo a further assessment of his fitness on Sunday.

PSG said in a statement on the club’s official website: “Leo Messi started running again today in line with his treatment protocol.

“An update check is scheduled for Sunday.”
