coach, Enzo Maresca, says discussion over the future of Nigerian duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho and other players whose contracts are due to expire this summer will be put on hold until the Foxes confirmed their immediate return to the Premier League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Both players contracts run out this summer and talks of a renewal are yet to begin.
Other players whose contract runs out this summer include Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton, Jannik Vestergaard and Dennis Praet.
The Foxes currently lead the Championship standings with 72 points from 30 games — 11 points ahead of second place Southampton and they remain well on course to exceed 100 points — a total which would all but confirm not only promotion but the league title.
Speaking ahead of their league game against Watford, Maresca was hopeful the club would have restored their topflight status when they sit down to negotiate with any player they are interested in retaining their services.
“At this moment the focus is on the final target for this season,” Maresca told Leicester Mercury.
“If the players who are going to finish with us this season are happy to continue together, good. If we or they are not happy, each one is going to take his decision. We will see.’’
“For now, there is only one focus. Hopefully, we can have a clear situation in one month or two months. Then, when we can see where we are next year, we can make a decision but in this moment, there is only one focus.”
