    The Spokesman of the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), Elder Kunle Famoriyo, has been honoured by the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths and other illustrious personalities on the occasion of his 70th Birthday.

    Elder Famoriyo clocked at age seventy on the 22nd of April 2023.

    Goodwill messages have since been pouring in torrents for him from well-wishers with some visiting his Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State home to pay homage.

    Among the August visitors were the immediate past governor of Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; veteran journalist and Chairman of the Gaskia Media Limited, Dare Babarinsa; members of the Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba (Grand Council of Yoruba Youths) led by their leader Comrade Awa Bamiji who visited the birthday ‘boy’ on Thursday, April 27 and presented Famoriyo with the OMOLUABI ODU’A AWARD on behalf of the group.

    “Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, founded 2001 inside Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, with blessings of leadership of both Afenifere and the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) honoured Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) Spokesperson Kunle Famoriyo @ 70 with its beautifully carved Ori Olokun “OMOLUABI ODU’A AWARD” today at the celebrant’s residence situated at Old Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State,” Awa Bamiji said.

    Dare Babarinsa who was in Ibadan on April 22 to honour the respected activist described Famoriyo as a courageous and sagacious pro-democracy fighter.

    “He was one of our most steadfast and committed leaders during our struggle against military rule. Today he turns 70. Famoriyo is a hero of uncommon courage and sagacity. Our leader, the late Chief Bola Ige, loved and respected him for his selfless commitment to the fight for democracy and equity. I salute this hero on the occasion of joining the league of the elders,” Babarinsa recounts on his Facebook page.

    He also has some words of praise for Famoriyo’s wife: “Thank you too, Mrs. Famoriyo, for taking good care of our beloved brother.”

    “Buoda Kunle, may your days be long and glorious! Happy birthday!” the renowned columnist prayed for the new septuagenarian.
