Must Read

By Paul Iyoghojie

A prolific writer and author of two books, THE INVESTIGATOR and SYNDICATE AFFAIRS, Mr Chidi Okoye has called on Nigerians to familiarise themselves with the Federal and State Laws governing them to avoid falling victim ignorantly as ignorance of the Law is not an excuse.

Okoye stated this in Lagos when he and other patriotic Nigerians unveiled a sensitisation platform Called “COSPEAKS” on the social media YouTube for the dissemination of the “Know The Nigeria Laws” for the public.

Speaking, Okoye stated that he and other like minds decided to embark on the “Know The Federal and State Laws to Avoid Falling Victim Ignorantly” because many citizens are violating the laws of the land or committing all sorts of crimes due largely to lack of knowledge of the Laws governing them.

He added that people ignorantly believed that nothing would happen if they violate the laws of the land until the Laws catch up with them before they would start regretting.

Okoye further stated that if the citizens were continually sensitized about the implications of violating the Laws governing them, it would go a long way in reducing the workloads of the Security agencies and minimizing criminal activities in society.

This, he opined, would lead to a crime-free environment and guard Nigerians against the ugly experience they would pass through if arrested and dragged to Court for violating the laws of the land.

Okoye stated: “After years of research and Investigation, one thing remains evidently clear- many citizens do not know the Laws governing them and that is why they ignorantly violate the laws of the land, be it traffic or criminal laws due to lack of knowledge of the laws.

“We have close to 420 Criminal Laws governing Lagos State, more than 500 Criminal Laws governing the entire South and about 200 Criminal Laws governing the North, and yet the majority of the citizens only obey the few ones they know and in most cases don’t bother to obey the laws due to ignorance of the law governing them until they run foul of the laws before they will start ‘saying had I know’.

Okoye said Nigerians can google ”Cospeaks’ on YouTube to learn more about “Know The Nigeria Laws to avoid falling victim” as ignorance of the Law is not an excuse when violated, Okoye appealed.
