A gospel singer, Kenny Saint Best, has said that aside from having to raise her children, she had to pause her music career because of its high cost.

In an interview with she said, “I took time off to raise my children. I had to weigh my priorities, and invest time and money to give them (children) the quality I wanted to give them. Another reason is funding. The music business requires a lot of funding; it is not cheap. Knowing that I needed to pay for the schooling of my children, I chose to invest in my children, (rather) than in music. Right now, I am back to the studio and by 2024, I will hit the ground running.”

When asked about her involvement in politics, she said, “I am still very much in politics, and I have been active for nine. I am also involved in political administration. I have worked with Lagos State at different level. God instructed me not to run for any political office but to return to music.”

Best also stated that she was involved in music consultancy. She said, “I am a consultant in art and entertainment, especially in music. I work with local governments in the area of raising entertainment awareness. I also work with the University of Lagos. When they have international students, they send them to me; so I consult for their music department. I perform at shows too, sing in church, host a show on radio, and I’m an author. But, I had to drop all that to face music. Music is a jealous job, and I had to pause all to finish the album I am currently working on. I also work with the Copyright Society of Nigeria.

“Copyright has been a reoccurring issue in the music industry, and I believe it can be resolved with collective efforts of both the government and other stakeholders. In the long run, it would contribute to the economy of the country.”
