INEC declares Zulum winner of Borno governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday declared Governor Babagana Umara Zulum winner of the governorship election in Borno State.

Zulum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 45,543 votes to defeat Mohammed Ali Jajari of the PDP, who scored 82,147 votes.

INEC’s returning officer, Prof Jude Tsammani Rabo declared Zulum winner of the election having polled majority votes and satisfied the requirement of the law.

The governor won in all 27 local government areas of the State.

With victory, Zulum will begin his second term in office on 29 May, 2023.

On October 1, 2018, he won the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressive Congress for Borno State.

Professor Zulum was elected to the Office of the Governor of Borno State at the 2019 Borno gubernatorial election held on March 9, 2019, with 117,5440 votes.
