Fire razes 80 shops in popular Kano market

Over 80 shops at the Kasuwar Kurmi Market in Kano Municipal were razed, according to the Kano State Fire Service.

Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the fire service spokesman, stated this in a statement on Wednesday, in Kano.

According to him, the fire started at about 05.23 a.m and the service received a distress call from one Aliyu Alkasim that there was an outbreak of fire at the market.

Six permanent and seventy-four open shops in the market were completely razed by the fire.

No life was lost and no one was injured.

He confirmed that the cause of the fire was being investigated.

Abdullahi advised consumers to switch off and disconnect all electrical appliances and avoid careless use of naked fire, especially within the market premises.
