FG evacuates 254 more stranded Nigerians

The Federal Government, late Tuesday and early Wednesday, brought 254 more Nigerians fleeing the insurrection in Sudan in the country.

The 254 evacuees landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, according to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.

The commission, in a Tweet on Wednesday, wrote: “EVACUATION UPDATE: The 10th batch of evacuees: 126 nationals that departed Port Sudan International Airport landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 10pm local time on May 9 via Tarco Air.

“The 11th batch of evacuees: 128 nationals (117 adults and 11 minors) that departed Port Sudan International Airport, landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 9am local time on May 10 via Tarco Air, making a total of 1,984 evacuees so far.

“Again, no Nigerian life has been lost so far. ”

The 10th and 11th batches of returnees make a total of 1,984 Nigerians that have arrived in the country from Egypt and Port Sudan in eight days since the airlift started.

Our correspondent gathered that 888 Nigeria who fled the insurrection in Sudan but got stranded at the Egypt border and 1,096 Nigerians who moved to Port Sudan have been airlifted so far.
