A deadly female gunrunner, Nana Ibirahim has been arrested in Zamfara State by operatives of the police. She was arrested with her male counterpart, Emmanuel Emmanuel.
They were arrested along the Gusau–Wanke–Dansadau Road by the Police Tactical operatives on 8 January, 2023.
The police report that the suspects were busted with 325 rounds of live ammunition, one magazine and AK-47 rifle.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Mohammed Shehu, said the suspects were arrested following information garnered on the movement of the weapons from Benue to Zamfara to a bandit’s camp.
According to Shehu, on the spot search by the operatives led to the recovery of the exhibits, and that in the course of interrogation, the suspects confessed to have engaged in several gun running business with bandits operating in Zamfara and other neighbouring states.
Meanwhile, the operatives are making effort to apprehend their fleeing gangs and charge them to court for prosecution.
