Former Manchester United star, Rio Ferdinand has slammed PSG’s ‘joke’ defending following their Champions League exit to Real Madrid.
The former England defender singled out Marquinhos for particular criticism, owing to his poor display that cost his team last night.
Kylian Mbappe had put the visitors ahead and looked to have put Mauricio Pochettino’s side in a comfortable position going into half-time, being 2-0 on aggregate.
But Real Madrid’s experienced striker, Karim Benzema scored a 17-minute hat-trick to eliminate PSG from the competition.
The French Ligue 1 giants contributed greatly to their own downfall, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma also making some costly errors.
“This is a joke, for a team of this experience,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“10 and a half seconds from kick off. Marquinhos, I love as a centre half, he is one of the players who normally you wouldn’t aim any criticism at for the way he defends.
“But [he needs to] launch it out of the stadium! Give away a corner even. It is unbelievable.”
