Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, has warned his teammates that Lille will do everything possible to make it hard for them and get a result when both teams clash in the Champions League.
Chelsea will on Tuesday night host Lille in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel’s side head to the game following a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League over the weekend.
But Mendy believes Lille have performed very well in the Champions League so far and are a good team.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Senegal international said: “When it is the Champions League and this stage of the competition, there are no easy draws. Lille won their group and I think that reflects the performances they have produced in this competition against teams like Sevilla and Salzburg. They have been performing well, so it is not an easy draw.
“Lille are a good team. They have struggled a bit this season in the league, but it is always difficult to be reigning champions. They have done very well in the Champions League and will do everything to make it hard for us and get a result.”
