Must Read

An Area Court sitting in Jos, Plateau State capital, on Tuesday, sentenced a 36-year old  businessman, Paul Bitrus, to three months imprisonment for buying a stolen vehicle.

The panel of two magistrates, Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who sentenced Bitrus after he pleaded guilty, however gave him an option of N25,000 fine.

They also ordered that the stolen vehicle be  returned to the owner.

They said the judgment would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal acts.

Earlier, the  Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat,  told the court that the case was reported on November 15, 2022, at the Anglo-Jos Police station by one Onyekwere Churchill.

The prosecutor said  that the convict bought the vehicle for N18million from one Tardoo Tegbenda, who stole the said vehicle.

The police  said the offence was punishable under the provisions of section 302 of the Penal Code Law.
