Members of the Association of Nigerian-American Professionals in Nigeria (ANAPIN) have thrown their weight behind the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, in the election slated for tomorrow, February 25th.

The endorsement was confirmed at an event organised in Abuja to mobilize support and canvass for votes for the former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi.

Immediate past President of the group, Chief Emma Okoro, who spoke at the event on behalf of the new leaders explained that their members are Nigerian professionals in various fields of endeavour who have lived in the United States but decided to come home to support Mr. Peter Obi, who has brought fresh tonic to the leadership the nation.

He said: “This year’s presidential election has presented us with a group of gentlemen, who have all made various laudable marks in several areas of endeavour. Is it Atiku, Kwankwaso,Obi or Tinubu? Believe you me, these are hardworking men whose footprints in various areas of impact we cannot deny. Each of them had at one time or another served well somewhere before now. But as things stand today, Obi remains the best man for the job they are all jostling for.

“Whether it is a case for equity, strength, present state of mind, character or the capacity and competence to deliver on targeted goals, Peter Obi today without any shred of doubts towers above all his co-contestants”.

While calling on the presidential candidates of other political parties to consider yielding their ambition and queueing behind the former Anambra State Governor and renowned entrepreneur in demonstration of collective national vision for progress, the group insisted that doing so would be an action that will be appreciated by most Nigerians and applauded by even members of the global community who they emphasized, had equally identified the prodigious gifts the Labour Party presidential standard-bearer possesses for transformational leadership.

Earlier speaking at the event, National Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Julius Abure, who led a group of Labour Party stalwarts to represent Mr. Peter Obi, at the event, regaled the gathering with the commanding presence of their party’s presidential candidate across the country as they went in search of support in states and towns some of which the candidates of other political parties could not dare to enter.

He thanked Nigerians for their labour of love and called on them to troop out en mass on Saturday at the polls to demonstrate that deep love for Obi and their party that Nigerians saw wherever they went these past few months.

Also speaking, Patron of the group, Chief Austin Chukwudi Oguejiofor, said that PVC was an open cheque in the hands of every Nigerian through which everyone may decide to use it well or to mortgage it for a paltry sum.

He thanked the members of ANAPIN for their commitment to national progress and prayed for free, fair and violence-free general elections.

Among other groups and individuals present at the event were members of the Coalition of Northern Elders in the FCT led by the Pakacin Keffi and Alh. Muhammad Abdullahi, the immediate past Grand Khadi of Nasarawa State, both of whom emphasized the national quest for equity, unity and justice which everyone agrees the Peter Obi presidential brand represents in Nigeria.

Also present were Hon. Henry Uche Nwabueze, National Coordinator, Obidient Movements worldwide and a past President, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), who also was a distinguished delegate to the defunct Jonathan Administration’s National Conference of Nigeria.

Others were Dr.John Tor- Agbidye,a Consultant Neurotoxicologist and Mr.Greg O. Imoohi, Pharmacist and MD, Golek Pharmaceuticals Ltd, who both eulogized the sterling qualities of Mr. Peter Obi, while emphasizing how his entrance into the race for President in the country attracted both diaspora interest, support and international appeal.

Also among the participants were other community and political leaders, which include: Hon. Steve Nkem, former National Secretary of the Advanced Congress of Democrats(ACD) and a candidate for House of Representatives at the 2019 general elections for AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency and many others.
