Residents of Kano metropolis have been gripped by fear following the resolve of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to hold the grand finale of their rallies in the state on Thursday.
Daily Sun gathered that the leader and the flagbearer of the New Nigeria Peoples Party. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is set to showcase his popularity in his home state during this rally which would see move through the state capital to his home.
A statement signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa , the spokesperson of the party in the state, said that thousands of supporters and stakeholders of the party are set to welcome their leader, and expected to converge at Kwanar Dangora along Kano-Zaria express way by 10: 00am.
Not too long from then, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in the state will be rounding off their campaign rally at the state level at the Sani Abacha Stadium.in the state capital
Top security sources told Daily Sun that the situation presents a huge challenge to the security of the state as there is no way the supporters of both parties would meet and not clash given the rivalry between them.
Daily Sun gathered that top operational officers of the Nigeria Police held a crucial meeting at their Bompai headquarters on Wednesday to map out strategies to counter the security challenge.
The state police commissioner, Mohammed Yakubu in his response to mefua enquiries said the police were on top of the situation and would find a way to ensure that the events went on peacefully in the state.
