*CP Orders Transfer To SCIID

A young man identified as Owate Bode allegedly clubbed her mother to death with a hoe for refusing to accede to his request for N20,000 in Aleto community of Eleme area of Rivers State on Saturday.
According to an eyewitness, the suspect approached the mother and demanded for the sum of N20,000,00 from her as pocket money to enable him attend an ongoing funeral service within the community.
The mother pleaded with him that she didn’t have enough money, but offered to give him ten thousand naira (10,000,00) to enable him attend the funeral.
The suspect was said to have refused and insisted he must get the N20,000 and nothing less from the mother.
However, things was reported to have went out of control as the mother was trying to walked out on his son who was suspected to be on drugs.
The suspect, according to the eyewitness, picked up a nearby hoe and slammed it on her mother’s head as she was walking out on him, leaving her dead in her pool of blood.
The suspect who hails from Aleto Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State was said to have called his father and uncles to come and carry the remains of his mother after the brutal murder. However, it was learnt that youths in the community arrested and handed him over to the police, while the corpse of the mother was taken to a nearby mortuary.
It was also revealed that the murder suspect had once attacked his father Chief Bode Nwagor with a machete and inflicted deep cuts on him, leaving him almost lifeless.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident.
SP Koko said the suspect confessed to the crime that he used a hoe to cut the mother on the head.
SP Koko added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon has ordered the transfer of the suspect from Eleme Police Division to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet and thorough investigation.
