Save the Nigeria Group has described as another deceit an lie the alleged statement of Hajia Turai Yar’Adua that King Abdullah Abul-Aziz of Saudi Arabia has barred access to her sick husband.
The group urged Nigerians to vehemently reject it for the good of the nation.
Daily Champion recalls that a delegation of the House of Representatives told the House that after its failure to see President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in Saudi Arabia, it met with his personal physician, Dr. Salisu Banye.
According to the team, Banye told them that the strictness applied in not allowing access to the sick President was on the order of King Abdul-Aziz, to protect Yar’Adua from the new disease called “Contact infectious”.
However, speaking with Daily Champion in Kano, a leader of the group who instituted the legal actions against the President and the national assembly seeking the invoke of section 144-145 to declare the President permanently incapacitated, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu, said they reject the news that Saudi Arabia barred Nigerians from seeing their President.
Faruk Aliyu who spoke through his lawyer Sani Gabas, said, “For once Dr. Salisu Banye had never come out to tell Nigerians that the President is sick or whatever is wrong with him, so he can not now come out to tell us that another country has refused our independent nation the right to see the President; he is still the President of this country and his personal physician has a lot of influence over his health like is done every where in the world.”
He said if at all it is true that the Saudi King had barred Nigerians from seeing the President, the Nigerian Embassy the federal government have the right to transfer the President to another country and hospital entirely where his personal security could be guaranteed.
“We can not understand why our President could remain in this kind of situation; anything can happen to him as he can be poisoned he could be killed,” wondering, “how can he be barred from all Nigerians; it is  a lie even if Turai cooked it  is  a lie it is yet another means of stopping fact finding missioners to Saudi Arabia, we will not take it.”
Gabas, said that their going to court was not to get sympathy for anybody but rather to protect the rule of law that is, “we have not gone to court to get sympathy for Yar’Adua or Goodluck Jonathan, we are in court to save the nation from the anarchy which is so imminent.”
