A woman (name withheld) slumped inside her car while waiting to buy fuel in one of the patrol stations in Gwarinpa, along Abuja-Kubwa expressway, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Friday.
Although the cause of her death could not be immediately ascertained, a source close to the family of the deceased told Daily Independent that she may have died of exhaustion, as a result of the long period of time spent queuing for fuel.
The source said the deceased left her home very early in the morning of that fateful day in search of the commodity which had been scarce for some weeks now.
“She had earlier gone to ease herself while waiting for her turn, but suddenly came back and died inside her own car” he added.
It was the driver of the vehicle behind her that observed she had already passed, following which he raised an alarm, when the repeated hooting to alert her on the need to move her car forward was not headed.
Daily Independent further gathered that she was immediately rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital where she was certified dead.
A source at the hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the deceased, a senior ranking public servant was brought in dead and later moved away for burial by the family.
