The representative of the United Nations Population Fund to Nigeria, Mrs Ratidzai Nahlovu, on Tuesday, recommended that Ondo State should be projected as the face of the country in terms of qualitative health care delivery.
Nahlovu, who led a delegation of the international agency to the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, made the recommendation, during a visit to the Government House in Akure.
According to her, her observation during inspection of some health facilities in the state, in company of the Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, portrayed Ondo State as the cynosure of health sector tran sformation in Nigeria.
She commended the Mimiko-led administration’s giant strides in the health sector, saying, “our visit to some health facilities in the state, including mother and child hospital, revealed that Governor Mimiko has done so much for the people in the provision of quality health care service.”
The Country’s Representative said the agency would partner the state government’s efforts at reducing maternal mortality, adding that other states of the federation should emulate the Ondo example in maternal health care.
