Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, Governor of Edo State is a star of some sorts. He shone so bright in the labour movement leaving impressions in the minds of many as a populist proletariat, mass mobiliser and an unbent fighter for the common cause.
Put simply, Comrade Oshiomhole rode high on the skies of fame during his days as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). But he also pranced prettily on plains littered with filthy lucre as whispers told of sizzling romance between him and a section of the bourgeois class he often confronted. By becoming governor, he switched flanks to join those he loved to lock horns with during the day but hated to be seen with at night. Although he has sustained his khaki-wearing deceitful facade, perceptible minds are not unmindful of his tendentious cravings for the luxuries of life which are now at his beck and call as Lord of the Edo State manor. His recent society wedding to a foreign damsel of salacious beauty is a testimony to the comrade’s taste for the best things of life. But I digress. Read More →

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State yesterday expressed shock and deep sadness about the brutal killing of Laitan Oyerinde who was private secretary to Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Governor Babatunde Fashola
Fashola in a letter of condolence to his Edo State counterpart urged him to “remain strong and focused as he faces the task ahead during this trying times, especially as it is coming barely a week after a road accident involving the governor’s convoy.”
Aregbesola described the midnight murder “as a manifestation of the recent alarm that there is an orchestrated plot to cause violence through killing of certain political office holders in the country.
Aregbesola in a statement by his Director of Communications and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon said “the dastardly killing of Oyerinde
confirms our fears and suspicion that the “accident” in the convoy of Oshiomhole was a plot to assassinate the governor by the same agents of do-or-die politics who believe that Edo State must be ‘captured’ from the Action Congress of Nigeria come next governorship election.”

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Friday revealed why he launched verbal attacks on former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih.
Oshiomhole said he experienced “godfatherism in its most brutal form” in the hands of Chief Anenih.
The governor spoke when some PDP members led by the party’s former woman leader in the state, Barr. Lucy Omgban, defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria.
Oshiomhole said Chief Anenih delayed his administration’s performance for one year when the then PDP led State Assembly refused to pass the 2009 budget.
He said, “Anenih was a man who was not elected, but approved my first budget. He deleted money meant for the purchase of buses, building of schools and other infrastructural development from the budget.
“If I didn’t fight then my God has fought for me. It is the hand of God that is working in the state,” the governor added.
Oshiomhole noted that if Chief Anenih had known that PDP fortunes in the state would diminish, he would not have de-registered people from the party.
