President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared that he can never be a party to moves or plans to disintegrate Nigeria.
The President spoke when he was decorated with the “Peace-Loving Global Citizen” Award by the Universal Peace Federation led by prominent lawyer, Mike Ozehkome, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday met separately with two leading pastors in the country based in Ogun State.
Jonathan met with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; and the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide a.k.a Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo.

Confirms Gwarzo as SEC DG, Obi chairman
President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday relieved the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr. Femi Thomas of his appointment.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said the sack of the NHIS boss was with immediate effect.

Ahead of the May 29 Presidential inauguration, President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the removal of the campaign billboards, banners and posters with Jonathan/Sambo inscriptions.
The order is contained in a release issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, in Abuja.
The release said that the order was because the 2015 Presidential Election had been concluded and the country preparing for the inauguration of a new administration on May 29. Read More →

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday condemned what he described as attempt by politicians and individuals to intimidate Nigerians, instigate public disorder and disaffection within some days to the governorship and state assembly polls.
Although he did not mention any particular person, the president’s warning is coming barely two days after it was reported that the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu had threatened that the Igbo people in Lagos State would all drown inside the lagoon should they fail to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode in next Saturday’s governorship election.

Former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf
President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Katsina State on the death of one of their most illustrious sons, and a former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Muhammadu Dikko Yusuf.
Jonathan, in statement by presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, also commiserated with Yusuf’s family.
He equally commiserated with Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on the demise of the respected leader of the cultural and political association.
The President shared their grief as they mourn the eminent Nigerian who served his country dutifully throughout his successful career in the Nigerian Police, and later on, as a political leader and elder statesman.
Jonathan said he believed that later MD Yusuf, as he was fondly called by his friends and associates, will long be remembered for his outstanding political courage and exemplary determination during Nigeria’s transition to democracy after years of military rule.
The president recalled that as leader of the Grassroots Democratic Movement at that time, the late MD Yusuf embodied some of the best values of bravery and patriotism.
Jonathan prayed that Almighty Allah will grant his soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn him.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has commended former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon for his unflagging dedication to peace, national unity, good governance and the well-being of all Nigerians.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, said the president who sent a congratulatory letter to General Gowon on the occasion of his 78th birthday, praised him for continuing to “engender bridges of love and harmony across the country” after leaving office many decades ago.’
“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to express warm felicitations to you on
your 78th birthday anniversary which comes up on Friday, the 19th of October 2012.
“It is gratifying to note that after decades of worthy service to our fatherland, you continue to use your exalted position to engender bridges of love and harmony across the country; unwaveringly pursue the cause of good governance, and work dedicatedly to promote the welfare and well being of all Nigerians.
“As you celebrate another year of distinguished service and personal fulfillment, I join your family and friends to wish you a richly deserved Happy Birthday,” the President wrote.
