The gunmen, according to Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, also abducted Chibok’s two children aged 10 and seven after shooting him dead in the presence of his wife at 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Confirming the incident yesterday, JTF Spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa,

in a signed press statement, said: “At about 13:00 hours, suspected Boko Haram terrorists on a tricycle machine (Keke Napep) rode to the house of a retired civil servant located at Bulunkutu Tsallake in Maiduguri metropolis and shot him dead. JTF cordoned and searched the area which resulted into the killing of one of the three terrorists”.

He, however, said two of the gunmen escaped, abandoning the tricycle they used in attacking and killing Chibok.

Musa added that two suspects were arrested and are assisting the JTF and the police in the arrest of assassins.

Speaking on the beer parlour attacks and killings, Yobe State Police Command spokesman, Gbagensin Toyin, in telephone conversation, said: “We received the report of the attacks on the beer parlour this
