Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, on Friday said his administration accorded priority to the welfare of civil servants and was not owing anybody salary or pension.Aliyu-Wamakko

Wamakko made the remark at the May Day celebration held at the Giginya Memorial Stadium, Sokoto.

He said his administration had given priority to the welfare of civil servants, stressing that nothing tangible could be achieved without a dedicated and motivated workforce, who have the capacity to transform the state to greater heights.

He maintained that his conscience was very clear that he had done his best under the circumstance to uplift the welfare of workers in the state.

According to him, the workforce in the state is over 26,000 as at April 2015, with a monthly wage bill of over N1.6 billion, including pension and other allowances.

“As we are on the eve of handing over to the in-coming administration, we have done all that is humanly possible to build our state in all areas of human endeavour, taking into consideration the meagre allocation from the Federation account.
