Two drivers on Saturday died in a road crash along the Bauchi-Jos Road after their cars had a head-on collision along Bauchi-Jos Road.
Four other passengers, including two children and a military man, sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, said the deceased were confirmed dead by a medical doctor after they were rushed to the hospital.
The statement read, “On Saturday at about 20.45hrs (8.45pm), there was a fatal motor accident at Nabordo Area, along Bauchi-Jos Road, involving a white Toyota Counter with number plate FS 276 LND, driven by one Mamuda Lawal, male, (45), of Nabordo town of Bauchi State and a Red Sharon vehicle with number plate XA 913 MAG, driven by a yet-to-be identified person from Borno State, heading to Jos with passengers.
“The accident occurred when the two vehicles, coming from different directions, had a head-on collision and skidded off the road.
“The scene was visited by a Police patrol team attached to Toro Division and victims rushed to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical attention. Both the two drivers were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.”
Mohammed maker stated that those who sustained injuries, were responding to treatment.
The PPRO added that Mercy Gabriel, a National Youth Service Corps member and her two children, all of Jos, Plateau State, were treated and discharged from the hospital.
He disclosed that exhibits recovered at the scene of accident, allegedly owned by the injured military man, included a military colour bag containing 864 life ammunition of 7.56 mm and one expanded Ammunition of 7.56mm.
Mohammed added, “Also, in another development, the joint Police vigilante group, acting on intelligence report, has recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun with no L37A2UE84A7119 at Jenge Forest, Bauchi.”
