OSOGBO—Osun State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has threatened that it would direct its members in the employ of the state government to embark on strike should the state government fail to pay the five months salaries it owe them.

Chairman of the NMA in the state, Dr Suraj Ogunyemi who addressed a press conference in Osogbo yesterday hinted that the affiliate bodies of the association have notified the state government of the planed industrial action.

He explained that the state government paid medical doctors in its employ last in October, 2014, adding that members of the NMA in the state daily experience suffering following the non- payment of their salaries.

Ogunyemi also alleged that deductions from salaries of his members were also not remitted to appropriate quaters by the state government since February last year.

However, the NMA boss stated that the association was ready to negotiate with the government, just as he expressed the readiness of the association to dialogue with the government on the matter.
