The Nasarawa South Youth Leaders Forum has accused the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulating the results for Nasarawa South Senatorial District in favour of Arc. Salihu Egyebola of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
They described the result for the zone, Ishaleku David, as false and not a true reflection of the people’s will.
The Nasarawa State Broadcasting Service (NBS) had on Monday, announced that Arc. Salihu Egyebola of the APC defeated Senator Suleiman Adokwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with a total of 95,760 to 91,981.
The Leader of the group, Kabiru Dallah, who spoke to Daily Independent on Wednesday, said “as at 4 p.m. on Monday, Radio Nigeria, Precious FM, Lafia, announced the cancellation of Ciroma ward of Lafia Local Government Area by an ad hoc staff of INEC, which placed Senator Adokwe ahead of his contender, Egyebola”.
He wondered why the NBS defied the announcement of INEC and went ahead to announce Egyebola as the winner of the election.
He appealed to the national headquarters of INEC to investigate the matter and deliver its judgment in favour of Senator Adokwe whom, he said, is the original winner of the election.
