Lagos State is  to host an interstate shooting championship as part of its effort to promote the shooting sports in the country.

The championship is scheduled to take place at the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba between April 16 and Wednesday April 18, 2012.

The event is expected to feature ten shooting clubs and eight participants.

In a statement made available to SATURDAY PUNCH, the vice chairman of the publicity committee for the championship, Mr. Bode Ojajuni, said, “This championship is aimed at harmonising all shooting clubs in the state, discover new talents and engage the youths in meaningful sporting activities.

“Participants will compete in both air rifle and air pistol categories and prizes will be given to both the individual and the team winners. The Lagos Shooting team has brought glory and fame to the state in past national sports festivals.”
