From Ralph Omololu Agbana,
THE rehabilitation of Obajana-Kabba-Egbe Road will soon commence upon the collaboration of Kogi State government, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Federal Ministry of Works and the Obajana Cement Industry.
Governor Idris Wada who disclosed this at this year’s Mopa Day held in Mopamuro Local Council, said his government had engaged FERMA in discussions that would bring all impediments to the road project to an end, adding that work would begin on the road as soon as talks were finalised.
Stressing that it was vital to the state’s economy and safety of road users, the governor who said the government had approved the rehabilitation of Mopa township roads, reiterated that the construction of the Obajana-Kabba-Egbe federal road, which formed part of his campaign promises, was topmost on the priorities of his administration.
He added that while the initial plan was to reconstruct the road, using government fund and later seek reimbursement from the Federal Government, the N17 billion proposed by the contractors for the job was an uphill task, considering the lean purse of the state.
