KANO State government has asked a Kano High Court to set free Wosilat Tasiu, 14, who was docked over an allegation of murder of her 35-year-old husband and three other persons through the food that she put poison in.
It will be recall that the state Attorney General had filed a four-count charge of culpable homicide, seeking for a death sentence penalty to be passed on her.
However, on Wednesday, the state government, through the Attorney General, Mr. Lamido Soron Dinki, brought an application, urging the court to set her free.
But the court adjourned the case to June 9, stating that the application seeking for the dismissal of the allegations be brought in written form and not orally.
The Kano State government had filed a four-count allegation against Tasiu, alleging that she murdered her husband and three others.
The Attorney General had told the court that the accused, on April 5, 2014 at Yan Tsoro village in Gaya Local Government Area in Kano State, poisoned a meal with an intent to snuff life out of her late husband.
He further said that Umar Sani, Hassan Alhassan, 25 years old, Nasiru Mohammed, 13 years old, and Indo Ibrahim, 12 years old ate the poisoned meal, culminating in the loss of their lives.
