Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday assured residents that his administration will go all out to ensure that the state witness a quantum leap in the areas of infrastructural development, job creation and improved security.
The Governor, who gave the assurance in his first New Year broadcast to Lagosians, said he was optimistic that 2016 will be a ground breaking year for the good people of the state.
While acknowledging the challenges that besieged the last seven months, Governor Ambode said his administration has been able to hit the ground running to deliver the dividends he promised the people during the electioneering campaign.
“The last seven months have been challenging, but with your patience, support and positive criticism, we have begun to display a positive outlook on innovation and inclusion we promised during our campaign”.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode says his administration has concluded plans to procure three helicopters next month to enable security agencies tackle criminal activities from the air as well assist in monitoring traffic gridlock to ease movement across the metropolis.
Ambode, who spoke as guest on a popular radio programme – Soni Irabor Live (SIL) on Inspiration FM on Sunday said he was deeply concerned about pockets of robberies in some areas of the state in recent times, expressing optimism that the helicopters would go a long way to aid security and traffic surveillance in the state.
He said that the government would also boost the operation of Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy on the waterways in the state, and that various equipment and platforms would soon be presented to them. Read More →
Dozens of midwives in Lagos State yesterday marched to the Lagos State Governor’s office and Lagos State House of Assembly complex, protesting government’s refusal to pay their outstanding 20 months’ salary. According to the women, the arrears include 12 months of 2013 and eight months in 2015.
The midwives armed themselves with placards on which they inscribed messages such as “Reduced maternal and child mortality, midwife is the answer, pay us our allowances; MSS midwives demand payment of salaries, January to December 2013 and January to August 2015; Governor Ambode, pay MSS allowances; MSS midwives, no pay, no work, Governor Ambode please pay our salaries, Governor Ambode please help,” among others. Info Access Plus Limited has branded as false and misleading stories on social media that former governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola spent a whooping N78million on a webiste, www.tundefashola.com, noting that, the site is an official website and not a personal one.
The statement then went on to detail how the website has disseminated information Fashola’s time as governor of the state.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, at the weekend received the High Commissioner of India, Mr. Ajjanpor Ghanashyan, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthen trade relationship with investors from the country.
The governor, who received Ghanashyan in his office at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, assured the latter of his administration’s determination to further strengthen the trade with India, adding that he has created an Office of the Overseas Affairs and Investment, which is under his supervision, to make the state more investor-friendly and safer.
“We have established Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment, so that we can strengthen bi-lateral relationship. We need more investors to come into Lagos so that we can create employment and grow our GDP. Whatever it is you think we can do to increase investors from India, we are ready to talk,” he said. Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was sworn-in as the Governor of Lagos State on May 29, 2015 to take over from the former Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) whose performance in office has been adjudged as the best among his peers in the country.
However what is causing concern in the minds of Lagosians especially the opposition parties in the state is that after two months in office, Governor Ambode has not been able to form his cabinet and they believe that this is already slowing down the activities of the government.
Many had expected that Ambode would hit the ground running immediately he is sworn-in but surprisingly apart from the appointment of Mr. Tunji Bello as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, no other appointments have been made either as advisers or commissioners. Read More →
