THE Mimiko Campaign Organisation (MCO) has thanked the people of Ondo State for their “unalloyed support and show of love” for Governor Olusegun Mimiko while his campaign for re-election lasted.

It assured the people that Governor Mimiko, who is the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), would not disappoint them when he is re-elected for a second term in office, as he would continue to work for them with renewed vigour to take the state to greater heights.

Meanwhile, the Delta State branch of the LP has gone spiritual with a prayer session presided over by the Chairman, Emeka Nwola, to ward-off any obstacle in the way of the re-election bid of Mimiko.

Nwola defended the session, saying it was necessary as a result of the “machination of some desperate politicians and the entrenched interests that the election has generated” in the last one month.

He called on the people of Ondo to reward performance by voting en-masse for Mimiko.

Also, some Ondo State indigenes residing in Kwara State have declared their support for Mimiko.

Speaking under the aegis of  “Ondo Parapo of Kwara”, the group, according to its spokesman, Abiodun Edward, said yesterday in Ilorin that Mimiko deserved a second term, citing his “sterling performances” in office.

Besides, the immediate past chairman of Kwara State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Ayeoribe, said workers would ordinarily find it more comfortable working with either a labour-friendly governor or the one from labour related party.

The Mimiko Campaign Organisation, in a statement yesterday expressed gratitude to the people and urged them to be alive to their civic responsibilities to come out in their numbers to cast their vote and stand by their decision “to ensure the continuation of a performing governor who has turned the state into a cynosure of all eyes within three and a half years.”

According to the statement signed by its Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, “the opposition parties in the state have mapped out series of plans to rig Saturday’s election because it is obvious that Mimiko could not be defeated in a free and fair election.

“As we are writing this press statement, the opposition parties are running from pillar to post with evil plans to thwart your popular wish, which is to return Mimiko for a second term based on the monumental progress, which he had brought to Ondo State within a short time.”
