As Deltans warm up for the governorship election on Saturday, Prof. B. I. C. Ijomah, a community leader and a professor of political sociology, has appealed to all Deltans to vote massively for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the next governor of Delta State.
Ijomah made the appeal in Asaba at a stakeholders’ forum to appraise the political situation as it affects Anioma aspiration to produce the next governor of Delta State, 24 years after the creation of the state.
“We all agreed that the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is a reflection of the aspiration of Anioma people. The clamour for Anioma identity and for a state of our own began in earnest in 1956. While we still hope to get the state, the election of Senator Okowa as the governor of Delta State is the first step towards realising that aspiration,” he said.
Extolling the virtue of Senator Okowa, he said the PDP candidate towers above any other aspirant in qualifications and experience and that his election would no doubt give all Deltans the personal commitment required for the development of the state.
He stressed that Okowa had been in Delta politics longer than any other aspirant and as such knows the problems and needs of Delta people.
He added that as a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Okowa is more experienced and most qualified for the office.
He further appealed to Nigerians to play the game of politics according to the rule and desist from desperation and hate speeches that would do us no good as a nation.
