Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, has told the workers that the N9.6 billion being proposed as a bailout from the Central Bank of Nigeria to the State to pay workers’ salaries would increase the debt burden of the State.
Fayose had also pardoned the 31 workers caught coming late to work on Monday, saying the gesture was targeted to smoothen the working relationship between him and the entire workforce.
The workers were caught napping during the governor’s early morning visit to the State secretariat , where the workers were arrested for late coming and were recommended for disciplinary actions.
Fayose made the statement in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with public servants to discuss whether the state should take the bailout funds being planned for states by the Federal Government.
