The Peoples Elephant, Enyimba International of Aba, on Sunday, put further pressure on league leaders, Sunshine Stars of Akure with a 2-1 victory over arch-rival, Rangers International of Enugu at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
In a tensed match, the two sides started on a fast note, with Rangers having the first real attempt on Enyimba’s goal in the 15th minute.
Enyimba, however, took the lead through a well taking penalty kick by Christian Obiozor on 58 minutes. Godwin Aguda restored parity for Ranger at exactly 81 minutes when he was brought down inside Enyimba’s vital area.
When it looked as if the match was heading to a stalemate, Andrew Abalogu gave Enyimba the lead, which ended up being the match winner in the 86th minute. Ezekiel Bassey took on Rangers defenders before unleashing a pass across to Abalogu for the all-important goal
