THERE was confusion on Monday at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos State, when two airmen in charge of traffic control at the departures section of the terminal beat a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) staff member up.

According to information gathered, the FAAN staff member, Mohammed Shuaibu, who works at the protocol and passages department of the agency, asked his friend to come and pick him at the airport.

On getting to the airport, the airmen moved to remove the number plate of his friend’s car, saying that the car was parked longer than necessary.

At that point, Shuaibu was said to have come out to beg the Air Force personnel over the issue.

According to eyewitnessed, Shuaibu, who wore FAAN staff uniform, introduced himself and showed his identity card. However, an argument ensued and the officials descended on him.

Shuaibu was beaten up by the airmen until he collapsed with blood oozing from his nostrils and he began to lose his breath as his heart beat slowed.and blood started to come from his mouth.

An official of FAAN confirmed that Shuaibu was first taken to the FAAN clinic at the airport, but because of the severity of the beating, he was later taken to the airport hospital.
