As early as 6 am, the polling booth, located nearly 100 meters from his residence was already taken over by a mammoth crowd of prospective voters, journalists, aides to the former military leader, observers as well as security operatives.
However, as at 8.30 am, accreditation had not started as INEC officials waited for General Buhari to kick-start the exercise.
There was no military presence in the whole of Daura, obviously in compliance to the court ruling earlier in the week barring the military from the polling units.
From state capital in Katsina to Daura, a distance of less than an hour, the situation was calm.
At exactly 8.40 am, General Buhari arrived the polling booth in a convoy of three vehicles.
By 8.45am, General Buhari with his wife Aisha Buhari went through the verification and accreditation in just 5 minutes.
He told journalists that he was satisfied with the brevity of the exercise.
He thereafter returned to his residence pending when the voting would commence.
