The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 12, Tunde Ogunsakin on Monday said Boko Haram insurgents though depleted and on the run should be taken seriously more than before as they are just like wounded lion that are dangerous.
Ogunsakin, who was in Maiduguri to boost the morale of the men of the Borno Police Command especially in their battle against the Boko Haram terrorists, said they will soon be history but Nigerians need to be alert to their new threat.
He said they are more dangerous now than before as witnessed by the numerous explosions in mosques carried out by them in the North-east region.
Ogunsakin said the insurgents would soon go into extinction with the combined efforts of the Nigerian security to meet the December deadline of President Muhammadu Buhari “but everyone needs to be on red alert to combat them as they are more dangerous now than in the past.”
He said recent happenings have shown that “just like wounded lions, the insurgents are deadlier and more dangerous than in the past,” but “this is a battle that our gallant police officers are ready for and definitely are winning.”
