Barely four days after Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State convoy was attacked, his Ogun State counterpart, Senator Ibikunle Amousn, Tuesday evening narrowly escaped been attacked by suspected political thugs who had accosted the governor’s convoy during his local government tour at Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North local government area of the state.
The governor’s convoy was attacked at a park known as station road garrage in Ijebu Igbo while he was on his way back to Abeokuta after touring the council which also had the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Kaka, in the convoy.
However, THISDAY gathered that it took the combined effort of security operatives and the State Security Service (SSS) to save Amosun’s convoy from been attacked.
According to an eyewitness, who narrated the story, “When the garage boys demanded money from Senator Gbenga Kaka, he only gave them N800 which was not to their delight.
“The boys again approached Senator Kaka but he refused to give them a kobo, a development which nearly would have made the thugs to attack the former deputy governor of the state.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident, and said 14 people had been arrested and are currently under intense
interrogation at the state Crimi-nal Investigation Department (CID).
