Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Senator Pius Ewherido, Sunday expressed dismay over the level of insecurity in the country, and advocated the introduction of state police as a way out of the situation.

Ewherido who represents the Delta Central Senatorial district made his view known while reviewing the state of the nation and the response of government to the spate of violence and terrorism in some parts of the country.

He  said that  the  centralised  structure of the Nigeria Police Force  had failed to halt the  wave of crime , terrorism and general insecurity across  the country  because each region, state or zone had its peculiar  security challenges that needed to be handled differently.
