Chairman of the Caretaker Committee for Akure North Local Government, Mr. Femi Ofakunrin, has said Akure people will vote for Governor Olusegun Mimiko for a second term in office.
Ofakunrin stated this in Itaogbolu on Saturday at a meeting to educate and mobilise members of the Labour Party ahead of the governorship election on October 20.
He was delighted over the large turnout at the event, despite that the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party is from the town.
He said, “In the next few months, the construction of a modern town hall will commence. Also, plan has been concluded for the construction of the popular Ona bridge in the town.
Other speakers on the occasion expressed confidence that Mimiko deserves a second term following his achievements.
Meanwhile, hundreds of politicians defected to the LP from the Action Congress of Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party and the All Nigerian Peoples Party.
However, a former commissioner for finance in the state, Chief Segun Ojo, said his party (ACN) would win the election.
He stated this on Saturday while receiving hundreds of politicians who defected to the ACN from other parties from various communities in Ondo South.
